Do we need a legal definition for "nanomaterials" in occupational health and safety regulation?
BAuA position paper of 20. August 2019
Based on an amendment to the European Chemicals Regulation REACH, additional testing and specific information requirements for the registration of nanoforms of substances will apply from 2020. This amendment is based on a proposal of the EU Commission for a definition of the term "nanomaterials", which aims at a uniform application in various areas of law.
However, BAuA does not see any need to define nanomaterials as a uniform category in occupational health and safety regulation.
